Oops, I thought I reviewed District Saigon already but apparently I never did. Well, better late than never! So we ended up coming here one weekend evening earlier this fall, and we sat in the bar area which was low-key and relaxed. I find it tough to order at Vietnamese restaurants since there are several dishes that are my go-tos. And it didn't help that District Saigon had plenty of appealing offerings such as taro fries. In the end, I tried the summer rolls ($9) and the wood & herbed smoked brisket pho ($18). The summer rolls were great, but the smoked brisket pho was certainly quite unique and delightful. The portion size was not skimpy either. And on top of it all, the service was tops. A couple of different employees checked on us regularly, never let our water glasses dry up, and were friendly and helpful. I'll definitely have to return to District Saigon and order some of the other dishes!
Had their regular pho and it was great - rich beef broth with brisket and beef on the top. Their appetizers were great - taro fries in particular was on point, and spring roll was good too. I want to call out their great beer selections - lychee beer was interesting. They had a smoky brisket version of the pho, which I thought tasted okay and would go with the regular again next time. A bit on the pricy end for a pho in Queens tho IMO.
Ordered for delivery and everything was so good. The banh mi, round steak & angus brisket pho, and short rib fried rice were all seasoned well and delicious. The pho broth was clean, hearty, and still very hot when it was delivered. The banh mi bread was crispy, the pickles were pickling, the meats and spread was well-balanced. The fried rice was a bit too oily for my liking but well seasoned and the beef was tender. Would definitely order again!
Great date spot! Came here for the pho and I had the vegan pho with catfish on the side. Tasty! The thinly sliced beef and bone marrow was also good. We picked the wrong drink but will try again. Fast service. Loved the summer rolls. A little chewy but delicious.
Great variety of menu options from appetizers, sides, main dishes and signature cocktails! Lychee martini is fresh and delicious as are their other refreshing cocktails. Chicken wings were crispy,?seasoned well with some sort of savory sweet, vinegary nuoc chum sauce; it is served with seasoned taro fries. Fried catfish with fresh noodles is also a delicious dish, crispy and well seasoned with fresh rice noodles, bean sprouts and other pickled vegetables. Great service, nice and friendly servers, great ambiance.
The best Vegan Pho I have ever had - Pho get about the others! This cooler weather was perfect as I was craving some hot soup. Drove past District Saigon and turned around. Better than I could have imagined. The Pho - Vegan with a delicious, light broth; I could taste the medley of toasted spices, dried mushrooms and veggies with a hint of miso. It was just fantastic. The noodles were amazing and the basil just took it to a whole new level. The appetizers - the tofu satay was lovely. Grilled just right with a light sauce. The summer rolls with the shrimp were a bit bland. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was strong and well made. Just the right amount of sugar ( not too sweet) and cream and potent!!!!! Ploy was our superb server and bartender. She effortlessly and courteously took care of four tables with a smile and kept out water glasses refilled and she brought us extra limes and napkins; very proactive, polite and efficient. The vibe was chill. Nice mellow music playing in the background. Lovely bar and decor btw. The ladies next to us got the steak and brisket pho and it looked ravishing. Definitely going to try the dumpling appetizer, the buns and banh mi next time. Hooked on the Vegan pho. Simply gorgeous. District Saigon is on the north side of Broadway between 37th and 38th Streets. Open 7 days.
District Saigon stands out as a top Vietnamese restaurant in Queens. Their menu offers several noteworthy dishes: The meal begins impressively with their crispy spring rolls, which are particularly delicious. A highlight is the shaken steak and egg, served on a sizzling hot plate. The steak is perfectly charred on the outside while remaining juicy inside. However, the crown jewel of their menu is the District Pho. This soup features a combination of round steak, bone marrow, and meatballs. Its broth is richly flavored and it's so comforting. Overall, District Saigon delivers a satisfying array of Vietnamese cuisine, with their pho being especially remarkable.
District Saigon is a modern vietnamese restaurant in Astoria with an intimate ambiance. The place is very clean with comfy seating, decent bathroom and chic decors. Highly recommend coming on a date or girls night out. *Bun Cha I always go for bún in summer as it is more refreshing to slurp up soupless noodles. I picked the one topped with char-grilled pork patties and spring rolls. The spring roll is impressive as it is made with crab, shrimp, pork, vermicelli, taro, mushroom. While the patties are flavorful yet unfortunately dry. Thai basil adds extra depth of herbic aroma to the dish. I enjoyed the bowl with drizzles of fish sauce. *Round Steak & Angus Brisket Pho The beef broth is bursting with rich meaty flavor. I think the soup already shines on its own, but you can add some shiracha for a more umami flavor. The meat is tender and comes with decent portion.
I usually order food delivery from them, and I thought it was decent, so I wanted to try the place in person. It was surprisingly spacious inside and the interior decorations were nice. It felt more elevated than a typical casual Vietnamese spot. They had a Summer Specials menu for drinks and food. We tried the Corn & Prawn Chips, and it was delicious! Wish there were more chips though. The Shaken steak and eggs were good as well, but the steak was slightly too savory/salty for me after a couple bites. Would need to eat it with a bite of rice to balance it. The District Pho was decent. The broth was good, nothing amazing or special, but still a solid bowl of Pho. I would come back to try other items!
Highlights from the Menu 1. Pho Hot Stone: This dish is a culinary spectacle! Served in a sizzling stone bowl with a generous assortment of meats, it's not just a meal, but an experience. The broth is rich and aromatic, perfectly complementing the tender meats. 2. Crispy Catfish Banh Mi: This banh mi is an absolute delight! The catfish is perfectly crispy, paired with fresh, vibrant ingredients that create an explosion of flavors and textures in every bite. 3. Pandan Flan: is hands down the best dessert I've ever had. It's smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness--an absolute must-try! I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a stylish and welcoming setting.
